Despite FG's threat on mass-sacking, IHS decides to fire most of its staff

IHS Holding Limited days ago acquired Helios Towers Nigeria Limited (HTN), a company managing a large number of the mobile telecommunication network masts in Nigeria. Against the backdrop of the acquisition, the parent company has reportedly fired most of the workers at HTN.

One of the employees who spoke via email said:

“I just got fired o, no warning nothing! IHS Towers just acquired my company and just decided to fire all of us.  No warning nothing.  Please help us let Ngige know that some companies are still laying off staff even after the promise and warning from the government.”

You can recall that last week, the federal minister of Labour Chris Ngige threatened to retrieve the license of companies that sacked workers en-masses after it surfaced that Skye Bank laid off over 170 people from its work force.
