Forgery case: Judge adjourns case, Saraki and Ekweremadu bailed

The Senate president Bukola Saraki, his deputy Ike Ekweremadu, and two others were granted bail over their forgery case against the Federal Government at a Federal High Court in Abuja today June 27th 2016. The two others involved in the case were former clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa and his deputy, Mr. Benedict Efeturi.

The presiding judge adjourned the case for a later date accompanied with bail conditions for the accused even as the director of public prosecution Mohammed Diri told the court that the accused my jump bail.

Diri said:

“We urge this court to be cautious in handling the bail of the 1st, 2nd and 4th defendants. This is also considering the fact that the charge against them is very serious.”

Shortly after the court session, Ekweremadu, Saraki and the others met their bail conditions and were seen trooping out of the court premises in their convoy of cars.
