3 suicide bombers shot at civilians and police before detonating their suicide vests on Tuesday 28th June 2016 evening, killing 36 people and wounding 147. Although no group has yet come forward to claim the attack, it is widely believed that ISIS is responsible for the latest attack that happened at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey. The terrorists attacked the departure/arrival terminal of the international airport, shooting people in a manner similar to the Orlando, Florida attack earlier this month, before putting up pressure against policemen and finally detonating their explosives when the pressure became too much.
One woman, Tarane Foroutan, who was at the airport at that time said on Facebook:
“It was the most horrifying night of my life!!!! I was in duty free checking some stuff and suddenly heard everyone is screaming.
“I looked back and there were polices (sic) running backward and shooting just next to us… We hid behind the cashier desk with 2 other girls… And then there was a BOOM following by sound of broken glasses falling down.. In those few seconds I was sure that im gonna die… Everyone was running…. I started to ran with the crowd to i dont know where… I was soooo scared and crying.”
Officials say that a total number of 146 to 150 people have been wounded and there could be more fatalities.
