 University Of Ibadan (UI) Shuts Down, Asks Students To Go Home Over Protests

Following the 2-day students’ protest that hit the school, the management of University Of Ibadan, Oyo State has indefinitely shut down the institution and issued a statement directing all students to leave the premises.

The students protested over “the suspension of a union leader by the students’ disciplinary
committee” and “non-availability of some amenities needed on the
campus”.

Tunji Epketi Micheal, a 500L student of the department of Petroleum Engineering, Faculty of Technology was expelled for masterminding the protests, a move that further fueled the rallies on Tuesday.
