Wike nabs mechanics over soot

 The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has taken the fight against pollutants and pollution in t he state to a personal level.

He has reportedly personally effected the arrest of about 15 mechanics who were illegally burning tyres and condemned engine oil in the suburb of the state.

This comes as mass after mass of dark particulate matter also known as soot, has been reported over the skyline of the city, endangering the lives of the residents of the city.

He was returning from a burial ceremony with his entourage when he encountered the burning scene.

He said nobody will be allowed to endanger the lives of the people of the state through harmful environmental practices.
The governor assured the people of Rivers State that the Task Force set up to tackle the black soot had been duly empowered to ensure that the state’s environment is safe for all residents.
